Following the recent homicides that occurred in the municipality of Arauca, Governor Renson Martínez Prada convened an extraordinary Security Council to implement actions to safeguard security and order throughout the Department.
The military and police forces, the Prosecutor’s Office, the Ombudsman’s Office and Legal Medicine, presented their reports on the recent incidents of violence in the department, emphasizing the capital municipality, where, in the last week, four violent deaths were recorded. that are being investigated.
During the meeting, the Governor highlighted the importance of maintaining constant communication between institutions to coordinate effective actions in favor of citizen security and highlighted the positive effect of the actions implemented by the public force in the municipality of Tame, which have contributed to improve security and reduce the number of homicides.
Measures that will also be taken in the Araucanian capital, such as joint patrolling between the National Police, the National Navy and the National Army, in addition to increasing the military presence in critical points of the department’s road axes, where criminal activity is concentrated.
In the same context, Governor Martínez Prada denounced that, “there is clear political persecution against me by my opponents in the last electoral contest, but I will not allow this to disturb our commitment to work for a better Arauca.”
The Governor expressed his confidence that the actions of the public force and the Police will contribute to improving the situation, recognizing the historical complexity of the problem in the Department. He stressed that security is an absolute priority for his administration and reiterated his commitment to working tirelessly to return peace and tranquility to the inhabitants of Arauca.
Furthermore, he emphasized the need for any negotiation process with illegal armed groups to take into account the situation in the Department and to guarantee the total cessation of hostilities against the civilian population.
