The 53-year-old had fallen and called his wife, then the phone became unreachable. Rescuers mobilized

ALPAGO. The mountain bike enthusiast who did not return yesterday evening, Monday 4 April, was found bruised but in not worrying conditions, triggering the rescue car.

The search operations had started around 21.50 when, at the request of the carabinieri, the Alpago Alpine Rescue was activated to start the search for the German tourist who had not returned from a mountain bike ride. After talking with his wife, the rescuers learned that the 53-year-old had left his home in Farra d’Alpago at around 3 pm, where the couple is spending the holidays, headed for Nevegal. At 8 pm, last contact before the cell phone became unreachable, he had called in a confused state saying that he was in the middle of a forest and was seeing the lake.

Alpine rescue of Alpago, Belluno and Longarone, together with firefighters and carabinieri then began to patrol the areas of Cornolade and Quantin to climb towards the Nevegal and the road network around Lake Santa Croce until, just after 11 p.m. man was met on the road in Bastia, near the Alpago Hotel, on his way home. He was fatigued and proceeded slowly, perhaps due to a fall in which he had suffered a blow to the head, and was escorted back to his home.
