Tragedy Strikes: Factory Explosion in Hai’an City, Jiangsu Province

In the early morning of February 18, tragedy struck at a factory in Hai’an City, Nantong, Jiangsu Province. An explosion occurred at the workshop of Asia Pacific Light Alloy (Nantong) Technology Co., Ltd., resulting in at least 3 deaths, 13 injuries, and 2 missing persons. The site was left in ruins, and the windows of surrounding companies were shattered.

The Hai’an Emergency Management Bureau in Nantong, Jiangsu Province, reported that the explosion took place at 2:11 a.m. in the casting well area where aluminum rods are produced. As of now, the search, rescue, and aftermath work is ongoing with a total of 3 confirmed deaths and 2 people still missing. Additionally, 13 individuals have been reported injured in the tragic incident.

Video footage posted online showed the extent of the devastation caused by the explosion, and some netizens have identified the factory’s location as being near Haiphong Road in Hai’an City. Reporters attempting to contact the company have been unsuccessful in getting a response, but staff from neighboring companies have confirmed that their windows were shattered by the force of the explosion.

The A-share listed company Asia Pacific Technology has a wholly-owned subsidiary known as “Asia Pacific Light Alloy (Nantong) Technology Co., Ltd.” Attempts to reach out to the company regarding the incident have been unsuccessful, as no one has answered the calls made to the Asia-Pacific Technology Securities Department.

As the community grapples with the aftermath of this tragic event, the authorities are working diligently to provide assistance to the victims and their families. Investigations into the cause of the explosion are also underway to prevent future incidents like this from occurring.
