Professor Nizar Baraka was elected Secretary-General of the Istiqlal Party for a second term as part of the work that took place during the first session of the party’s National Council on Saturday night, April 27, 2024, in Bouznika.
The election of Professor Nizar was based on a public vote unanimously by all members of the Council.
The session’s activities were characterized by an exceptional and enthusiastic atmosphere, characterized by a sense of party responsibility that aims, from the standpoint of jealousy, to serve the general interest of the party, in order to strengthen its strong and unique presence in the political arena, and to preserve all its gains, which was clearly evident through the strong and remarkable presence of the members of the Council. Who represent the various regions of the Kingdom, and enthusiastically chant a set of slogans that highlight the identity of the Istiqlal Party in the struggle, and its solid unity.
At the beginning, Brother Abdel Samad Qayuh announced, on behalf of the Conference Presidency Committee, the names of the candidates for the position of Secretary-General, namely the two brothers Nizar Baraka and Rachid Afilal Al-Alami Al-Idrissi, before the latter announced the withdrawal of his candidacy, leaving Brother Nizar Baraka as the only candidate, and enthusiastic cheers were launched by the members of the Council. The National Council supported the Secretary-General before voting unanimously on him publicly and renewing confidence in him to lead the Istiqlal Party for a second term.
As for the second point included in the work of the first session of the National Council, related to the approval of a single list of members of the Executive Committee of the Istiqlal Party, Brother Nizar Baraka announced after assuming the keys of leadership of the party for another term, that the process requires some time, deliberation, wisdom and sobriety to choose a list of members of the aforementioned committee before He presented it to the attention of the National Council for a vote, given that the members of the list will form, accompanied by him, a cohesive team to draw up the party’s strategies in order to anticipate a better future during the upcoming stages, and to work to achieve more than the gains achieved during the previous period, recalling that the number of the list of members of the Executive Committee includes 30. Member according to the new amendments to the amendments to the party’s basic law approved during the eighteenth National Congress.
The re-election of Brother Nizar Baraka as Secretary-General of the Istiqlal Party brought great relief to the members of the National Council and the rest of its components, because he is the man of this stage capable of giving a new breath to the party and restoring the glow to its parallel organizations, in order for the Istiqlal Party to assume the basic position it deserves at the national level during years to come.
