Two vessels that covered the Buenaventura-Nuquí and Buenaventura-Bahía Solano routes were attacked in less than 72 hours in the waters of the Colombian Pacific.

According to the president of the Association of Maritime and River Transporters of the Pacific, Atransmaflupa, Javier Torres, there is concern in the union because all the thefts were perpetrated by “pirates who traveled in fast boats.”

The two boats were intercepted by armed men who intimidated the crew and passengers, and stole gallons of gasoline, cold products such as meat and chicken, an outboard motor, and boat equipment.

“More than 1,600 gallons of gasoline were stolen from the first two vessels that were going to cover the Buenaventura-Bahía Solano and Nuqií route, fuel that was for transporting cargo and passengers,” Torres added.

Likewise, he stated that the third motor ship that left the municipality of Guapi, (Cauca) bound for Buenaventura was attacked in the same way.

In this case, the assailants stole all the seafood they were bringing and the passengers’ belongings. The losses exceeded 100 million pesos.

«We have the case of another motor ship that saw from Guapi (Cauca) bound for Buenaventura, they intercepted it with the same modality, armed men in fast boats intimidated the crew and took everything that this boat had and other elements that are their own. of the ship, as well as the belongings of the passengers to Buenaventura,” Torres concluded.

Faced with these events, the president of Atransmaflupa called on the authorities to address the situation because, according to him, it is unusual that three robberies have occurred, in less than three days, in the waters of the Colombian Pacific.
