A bus carrying a school group of around 50 young people from the province of Cuneo lost its rear wheels this afternoon while traveling along the Passante di Mestre, between the Martellago-Scorzè and Spinea toll booths, in the direction of Milan.
The driver managed to pull over the vehicle in one of the lay-bys on the motorway, in the trench section of the Passante. No one was injured, and fortunately the wheels that came off the vehicle did not hit other passing vehicles.
The traffic auxiliaries of Concessioni Autostradali Venete (Cav) intervened on site, coordinated by the operations center of Mestre, and secured the students who remained on the roadway, making them exit through the escape stairs of the Passante and securing them from the traffic in the adjacent green areas. On site, where the Venice Traffic Police also operates, traffic passes on two lanes, and there are no queues. The passengers were transferred to a replacement bus and headed back home.
