Gindri, decorator, was divided between Caluso and Montalenghe. Known as Giorgione, for his size and goodness of mind

CALUSO

He still had his residence in Caluso, his country of origin and where he often returned to visit friends, but for many years he spent most of his time in Montalenghe, 62-year-old Giorgio Gindri, struck down by an illness last Tuesday afternoon in the square in front of the entrance to the Ivrea hospital. The funeral took place yesterday, Thursday 5 August at 5 pm in the parish church of Montalenghe.

And here, in the small cemetery on the outskirts of the town, “Giorgione”, as he was nicknamed for his imposing physique, was buried.

For the last farewell, the members of the Laghetti di Gogliasso association of which Giorgio Gindri had become vice president, four years ago after the renewal of the board, now chaired, gathered around his daughter Ginevra, his sister Lauretta, his cousin Moreno by Livio Mazzucato.

Sport fishing in the waters of the two Montalenghe lakes, fed by the state-owned Caluso canal and good food, to be shared with friends, were Giorgione’s great passions.

In Caluso, where he lived, he was known for his work as a decorator, which he had been doing as a freelancer for many years.

“Giorgione in many ways was a” bear “, a little gruff but spontaneous and generous and always available”, remembers the former mayor of Montalenghe Valerio Grosso.

«For many years he had animated the association” Laghetto Gogliasso “of Montalenghe, in which he had really put a lot of effort. He also took care of the organization of parties and of keeping the structures and the summer dehors in order, the roundabout for dancing, the playground for children and the barbecue. I share the pain of his death with all the partners ”recalls the former mayor of Montalenghe, Valerio Grosso.

“In the end, dying in front of a hospital was the last chance for you to wink at fate and make irony. Irony that you used often, you who could see the positive everywhere, even in the most unfavorable situations. It was your personal armor so as not to suffer too much. Now we would all need a joke from you to feel less alone »writes her friend Gemma on facebook while many friends have posted vintage photos of Giorgione’s historic birthday and various group photos that portray him, young and smiling, to receive an award in a musical evening.

“We have lost a friend – Valerio Grosso still remembers – a person who had deeply rooted in himself the sense of community, industrious and available”.
