In a statement to the authorities and to the public, the Western Energy Company (CEO), a Promigas Company, expresses its concern and rejects the serious human rights violations recorded on April 15 in the El Cabuyo village in the municipality of Inzálocated north of the department of Cauca, where the community detained one of its contractors and later tied him to a post.

The technician carried out work to suspend the service to those users who present

non-compliance with payments for a period greater than three months, in accordance with the provisions of the uniform conditions contract and the provisions of article 130 of Law 142 of 1994; When he was approached by the community in the area and against his will, they tied him up and deprived him of his freedom until the Company met the demands of said community.

Omar Serrano Rueda, general manager of CEO, indicated: “The Company severely rejects this type of behavior and acts of violence that violate the human rights of our employees and contractors, violating their freedom and human dignity. In addition, we reiterate our total commitment to defense of dignity, equal rights and fundamental freedoms.”

CEO calls on the community to use the service channels available to respond to their requests, complaints and claims and insists on their willingness to listen to the needs of the community through concerted dialogue, without having to resort to de facto channels. .

“The dignity of the person is a fundamental right and duty in the Constitutional State, from a moral and legal perspective; It is the basis of respect, freedom, autonomy and responsibility of the human being, therefore, as a Company we remind the community in general that our employees and contractors are human beings who deserve respect in the free exercise of their functions,” added Paola Ramos. , CEO corporate affairs manager.

The Company calls on the municipal authorities and demands safety guarantees for the provision of the public home electric energy service in the municipality of Inzá and reiterates its commitment to bringing an electric energy service with quality, reliability and safety to urban areas. and rural areas of the 38 municipalities where it operates, with the sole purpose of improving the quality of life of the communities.
