Wolfgang Pfotenhauer was not only popular among his political friends, but also very well respected by his opponents. He didn’t just know how to defend himself politically. He was involved in self-defense for many years and was very successful as a Taekwondoka at Rüttenscheider SC. He saved the Bergerhausen citizens’ association from extinction by taking over as chairman in 1995. Pfotenhauer received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon in 2015 for his voluntary services.
