From the debut work Anywhere, Anytime to the virtual set of The Opera! with Vincent Cassel, from the Hearts and Law series by Lidia Poët to The Count of Monte Cristo directed by Bille August. For Piedmontese cinema, 2023 was a record year, with 17 feature films and 19 TV series made in Turin and in the region (in 2022 there were 16 and 12 respectively). A total of 1,300 days of filming, ideally 4 sets active simultaneously on every day of the year, with an overall impact estimated at 52 million euros. These are the numbers of Film Commission Torino Piemonte, illustrated by the president Beatrice Borgia and the director Paolo Manera.

“2023 represented an extraordinary year for the Foundation in qualitative and quantitative terms, strengthening the very high level trend of audiovisual production in Piedmont, with 236 projects supported which are equivalent to 1,300 days of filming, 27% more than 2022”, explained Borgia.

“The improvement of all evaluation parameters, with a qualified expenditure in Piedmont of 26 million euros and an overall impact estimated at 52 million euros, highlights the structural solidity of the local sector, together with the continuous growth of a concentrated path on quality and the international dimension which remain our indispensable strategic lines”, adds Manera.

The record results of the year were affected by the start of the new programming of the Piedmont Region for the three-year period 2023-2025 and the allocation of 12 million euros for the production asset. “The numbers bear witness to the work that has been done. From 2019 to today the Region has invested almost 30 million euros, but the returns from the Film Commission’s activity for the territory have doubled. It is public money very well spent, the The cinema industry is part of the new identity of the region”, said governor Alberto Cirio who also underlined the centrality of Rai in Piedmont.
