Colombian economy rebounded in November 2023: Construction remains affected

Like every month, the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE) delivers the Economic Monitoring Indicator (ISE), which evaluates the evolution of the country’s economic activity in the short term, based on the main lines of Colombian production. For the period of November 2023, a growth of 2.25% was recorded compared to the same month of 2022.

The ISE makes its measurements by primary activities (agriculture and extractive industries), secondary (manufacturing and construction) and tertiary activities (commerce, services, transportation, among others). For agricultural and mining and quarrying activities, a positive behavior of 8.4% was evident, however, the manufacturing and construction industry, which have been in the red for more than six months, had a drop of 3 .85% compared to the month of November 2022.

As for the rest of the areas, they are followed by public administration and defense, education and health (6.9%); artistic, entertainment and recreational activities, and other services (6.9%); financial and insurance activities (4.2%); as well as the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning, and the distribution of water (3.5%).
