UDINE. On Monday 20 September, at the headquarters of the Provincial Carabinieri Command in Udine, Colonel Orazio Ianniello, who recently took office as provincial commander, met with representatives of the press.
Ianniello attended the Military Academy of Modena from 1995 to 1997, the year in which he was appointed second lieutenant and reached the Carabinieri Officers School in Rome, where he completed his academic studies.
At the end of the training course, he was assigned, for his first assignment, to the 5th “Emilia Romagna” Regiment as Company commander.
The following year he undertook his first territorial experience by taking command of the operational and mobile radio unit of Giugliano in Campania (Naples), where he conducted various investigations against organized crime.
After two years, with the promotion to captain, he was assigned to the command of the Compagnia di Serra San Bruno (Vibo Valentia): here, he directed investigations against the ‘Ndrangheta and organized various demonstrations for the culture of legality, especially in schools.
Subsequently, in 2006, he assumed command of the company in Castello di Cisterna (Naples), continuing the investigative activities against the Camorra and those in favor of citizenship.
The nine years of service worked in the territorial organization were characterized by numerous investigative activities to combat organized crime in Calabria and Campania.
In 2010 he was assigned to the General Command with assignments of the General Staff, first to the Operations Room and then, promoted to the rank of Major, to the Legislation Office, where, among other things, he followed the parliamentary work on the legislative reform that led to the reorganization of the roles of military personnel.
Promoted to lieutenant colonel in 2015 and meanwhile completed his experience at the Legislation Office, in 2017 he was transferred to the Press Office to handle relations with the media and enhance the image of the weapon.
At the same time, he collaborated with the newspaper “Il carabiniere”, also becoming the director in charge of the site www.carabinieri.it.
Promoted to the rank of colonel, he was immediately assigned to the Provincial Command of Udine.
At the same time as his duties, Colonel Ianniello also continued with his cultural training, obtaining a degree in Political Science from the University of Trieste and a degree in Internal and External Security Sciences from the “Tor Vergata” University of Rome.
He then obtained the qualification to practice law at the Court of Appeal of Naples and is a member of the Order of Journalists of Lazio.
She recently attended a Master on communication at the 24Ore business school.
During his career he has received many honors including that of Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, the Long Command Silver Medal of Merit and the Red Cross Bronze Medal of Merit, as well as the Gold Cross. for Seniority of Service;
He is married and has two daughters.
