President Xi Jinping’s reply letter to representatives of Kenyan students and alumni of Beijing Jiaotong University has sparked inspiration and renewed commitment to China-Kenya and China-Africa friendship. In his letter, President Xi Jinping encouraged the students to continue to work hard for the cause of China-Kenya and China-Africa friendship.

The letter, which was in response to a correspondence from representatives of Kenyan students and alumni of Beijing Jiaotong University, expressed hope for the students to learn professional knowledge well, continue traditional friendship, participate in cooperation between the two countries, and make greater contributions to promoting the construction of a high-level China-Africa community with a shared future.

The enthusiastic response was evident among the students, with Kariwu, a Kenyan graduate student at Beijing Jiaotong University, expressing deep gratitude for President Xi Jinping’s reply letter. Kariwu, who is studying civil engineering, highlighted the long history of China-Kenya friendship and the significant role of the joint construction of the “Belt and Road” initiative in bringing development and prosperity to his hometown.

Likewise, Abu, another Kenyan student, who worked as a railway signaling engineer on the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway, expressed his renewed sense of purpose and motivation after reading President Xi Jinping’s reply. Abu, who is currently pursuing a master’s degree in logistics engineering and management, is committed to returning to Kenya and contributing to the construction of rail transit in the region.

The joint training project for Kenyan undergraduates initiated by Beijing Jiaotong University and China Road and Bridge Corporation has been instrumental in producing graduates who have entered the Kenyan railway sector and are actively contributing to China-Kenya and China-Africa friendship. Wang Jiali, a Kenyan graduate student majoring in civil engineering, plans to utilize her professional knowledge to promote Kenya’s infrastructure construction and bring Chinese culture and friendship back to her home country.
