Coronavirus, “ghost” ambulances: three paid and never arrived – breaking latest news

by admin

SALERNO – “We have no ambulances available …”: this is the answer, between the incredible and the surreal, received by the Asl Salerno from the company that had been awarded the tender for the supply of emergency vehicles to the guided healthcare company by manager Mario Iervolino. All to be redone, therefore, for the offices in via Nizza which, about a year after its adhesion to the Invitalia national tender to strengthen the means of the emergency-urgency service in the era of the pandemic, is forced to see the arrival still postponed. of the requested and financed supply. We will have to wait a little longer: the time that the new company to which the supply of tools has been turned over to the “vans” of all the material necessary for assistance to proceed with the delivery. At the ASL they can not help but spread their arms and wait to close a game started in the wake of the utmost urgency. And that, however, after a year is not over yet.

The story. It was January 18, 2021, the first days in which the coronavirus began to scare the world, when the general management of the ASL took note of the call for Invitalia, the subsidiary of the Mise led by the former Covid emergency commissioner Domenico Arcuri, for the presentation of “binding offers for the supply of ambulances and self-medications destined for the health emergency from Covid-19″. The application presented by the offices in via Nizza had received the ok: for this reason, therefore, at the end of all the procedures, five ambulances were ordered from Orion for a total amount of 610 thousand euros. The Florentine company, specialized in the supply of emergency vehicles, had taken note of the request of the ASL Salerno and started to work. And, in a first phase, the agreement had a follow-up: the Orion, in fact, sent an ambulance to the “Curto” hospital in Polla to replace an old vehicle, with over 400 thousand kilometers and more than twenty years of age, considered unsuitable for the rescue service also by the carabinieri of the Nas who, after an inspection in the hospital of Vallo di Diano, reported the matter to the authorities. That old ambulance, as whispered by the health management of the “Curto”, is destined to be transformed: it will become a van, useful for various services of the Diano facility, given that despite its advanced age it has a bodywork and an engine still capable of to cross the roads of the southern province. Then Orion also guaranteed the supply of another emergency vehicle, this time destined for the Sapri hospital. With “utmost urgency”: even the vehicle in service in the garrison of the Gulf of Policastro, in fact, was showing signs of aging and there was a need to replace it quickly. Two out of five ambulances provided, then darkness.

The twist. Asl Salerno, therefore, awaited the arrival of the last three “sirens” foreseen in the supply by Orion. On January 25th, however, a Pec that no one expected arrived on the e-mail of the company in via Nizza: “The Orion company – reads a resolution – communicated the impossibility of fulfilling all the supply orders issued. for exhaustion of the machines available ». A twist, then. Unexpected. Three days later, last January 28, the ASL took action to try to definitively close the issue of new ambulances: the asset and services acquisition management unit led by executive Vanessa Mazziotti replied to Orion by communicating “that it would be proceeded to cancel the orders of the three units for which there is no availability to supply “. Then we started looking for another company able to get the new missing ambulances: “Having assessed the need to make up for the lack of supply of the ambulances essential for emergency services, we proceeded to scroll the ranking updated by Invitalia and, with a note dated 19 February, the offer of the company Olmedo Special Vehicles was accepted ». The new company in charge will receive 340 thousand euros: it will now be up to them to provide ambulances for the hospitals of Roccadaspide, Eboli and Vallo della Lucania as soon as possible. Trying to close a game started in the wake of “utmost urgency”. And that, after a year, it still hasn’t been closed.
