The High Military Court delivered its judgment last weekend in the case of attempted corruption of agents of the FARDC General Inspectorate.
The main accused, Lieutenant-Colonel Ngoy Katengo Jerry, head of the military remuneration office at the 34th military region, received a sentence of 4 years in prison.
He was tried and convicted for attempting to corrupt agents of the FARDC General Inspectorate while they were on mission in Goma.
As for his co-accused, the High Military Court confirmed the judgment of the first judge by acquitting Lieutenant-Colonel Kasongo Kapinga Gabriel, Major Nyundu Ngelengwa Israel and the two captains Alimasi Bienfait and Lasikaba Mokili Innoncent.
Furthermore, in another case at the level of the Military Court, the public prosecutor requested, last weekend, the death penalty against the eleven FARDC officers prosecuted for fleeing from the enemy at the front on December 25, 2023 in Lushano, located about 8 km from the city of Sake, in the territory of Masisi. The Military Court’s ruling in this case is expected within a few days, according to judicial sources.
