(ANSA) – LONDON, OCTOBER 21 – Covid infections recorded in the United Kingdom in the last 24 hours have broken through 50,000 (52,009 to be exact), a record since July when they had reached 60,000. This is certified by today’s official data, which instead confirm that total hospital admissions are below the emergency level (slightly increasing from 7,900 to 8,100 approximately, but far from the peaks of 39,000 in recent months); and report a drop in deaths to 115, compared to 179 yesterday, thanks to the barrier effect attributed to the double vaccine administered so far in the country roughly 80% of the population.
