The debate on health and the nationalization of the service, the possibility of a blackout in the country due to the irresponsibility of the Government and the announcements of citizen calls around a constituent assembly, to just cite some recent issues, have made the rowdy statements lose sight of of President Petro regarding infrastructure works for Antioquia.
I wonder what else the governor could do in the face of provocations like “who would think – without water we cannot live – to leave drinking water at the back door of the house, and put 4G at the front door?” and the tunnel? Do you know who came up with that? “To those who want to do business with the money from the tunnel and the highway, and then leave the people behind, who are the ones who need the water.”
To which he added: “Without drinking water for Urabá, 4G roads are useless.” To conclude with: “We have to put drinking water at the front door, and 4G and tunnels at the back. “People first.”
All empty phrases for the gallery, since it was the Government itself that ‘forgot’ to include resources for drinking water in the budget, it has done nothing in Urabá and the little it allocated for this purpose was not executed either. Only a discreet 48% in 2023. I don’t think we should invent confrontations between water and communication routes. Both are necessary.
But beyond the resources collected, which amount to 3,632 million, contributed by 11,592 Colombians, the cow has unleashed the wrath of Petro, who, in addition to attacking the governor himself, now directs his darts against a group of congressmen who dared to donate resources to the cause. The plaintiff, concerned, has requested the loss of investiture of a good part of the Antioquia bench, accusing them of having violated the regime of disqualifications and incompatibilities. The Council of State will have to rule on this picturesque demand, whose true gravity is none other than its very probable origin in the Government itself.
But, as we go, the most likely thing is that the mayor of Bogotá will have to start his own project for the metro (I will be the first to contribute), or the leaders of Cauca and Nariño to build the Pasto-Popayán highway, or those of the Orinoquía, for the Villavicencio-Puerto Carreño road and many others now classified by Petro as works for the rich. You would have seen it!
It is appropriate to remember that, of this government’s flagship infrastructure program, ‘Paths for Peace’, of the 1,053 contracts awarded by hand to the community action boards for 209,000 million, only 4 have been completed. If the entire program is fulfilled, something very doubtful, they will have executed only 1 billion of the 8 promised. With Petro and his clique of incompetents everything is like that.
