CSM: majority agreement on draw for colleges. Cartabia: “We are on the contents”

There is agreement between (almost) all the group leaders of the majority in the House Justice Committee on the reform of the CSM. On the electoral law the square was found on the draw of the Courts of Appeal to go to form the constituencies, through a system that remains binominal majority with a proportional correction. On the separation of duties, it is explained, only one passage from judge to prosecutor and vice versa is allowed within ten years. “On the contents we are there, the majority shared the points that it is committed to support” was the comment of the Minister of Justice Marta Cartabia closing the last meeting on the reform of the judiciary and the CSM. Cartabia, the same sources say, thanked the majority forces who showed a “constructive” spirit, with the willingness to take the necessary steps to promote a synthesis.

The reserves of Lega and Iv

An agreement in principle that provides for the withdrawal of the amendments by the majority forces except Italia Viva, which, as announced, will vote on its proposed amendments and the Lega which would not have given guarantees on the vote of those amendments concerning the topics covered by the referendums on justice (including separation of duties).

Sisto: forward to meet the deadlines

“In the majority meeting that has just ended, a broad agreement was reached on the reform of the judiciary. I express satisfaction for the mature attitude held by the groups, under the direction of Minister Cartabia ». Thus the Undersecretary of Justice Francesco Paolo Sisto (Fi). “Now ahead with the work of the Justice Commission in order to meet the schedule”. “The country expects the reform and I remember once again how we all welcomed the passage of the speech to the Chambers of the President of the Republic Mattarella on the need and urgency of this reform”, warned the Minister of Justice, renewing the policy the invitation to a “sense of responsibility”, as reported by some of the participants in the meeting.

M5S, Pd and LeU express satisfaction

The dem applauds, despite the criticism of the attitude of some political forces on the point of mediation found. «We are one step away from completing the process to arrive at the approval of an important reform of the CSM. An agreement has been reached, but a major political knot still remains open: two majority political forces, Italia Viva and Lega, still do not withdraw the amendments on which there is an opinion against the government and there remains ambiguity as to how they will vote in the committee. This is not acceptable », declares the head of Justice of the Democratic Party, Anna Rossomando. For Federico Conte, deputy of the LeU, «the agreement reached today between the majority and the Minister Cartabia is the most advanced point of equilibrium. Nobody can take the risk of blowing it up. It would be irresponsible ». “At the end of the meetings with the Minister of Justice Marta Cartabia we record with satisfaction the agreement on the so-called“ revolving doors ”between politics and the judiciary: whoever decides to do politics will no longer be able to wear the toga. Exactly as we had already foreseen in the Bonafede reform project », comments Valentina D’Orso, deputy of the 5 Star Movement in the Justice Committee and deputy leader in the Chamber.
