Ranst –

The demolition of the old Vaarstraat bridge in Ranst has started. For this demolition, the E313 will be closed in both directions between 9 p.m. Saturday evening and 9 a.m. Sunday morning.

Since February 1, the Roads and Traffic Agency (AWV) has been carrying out preparatory works for the renewal of the Vaartstraat highway bridge in Ranst. The demolition of the old building started on Saturday evening at 10 p.m. That is why the E313 is closed to traffic in both directions until 9 am on Sunday morning. The AWV and the Flemish Traffic Center call on people to avoid the area and take an alternative route.

The closure runs from the Wommelgem entrance and exit complex to the Massenhoven complex on the E313. There is a closure on the E34 up to the Zoersel complex.

If you drive from Hasselt to Antwerp or Ghent and vice versa, it is best to drive around via Brussels. Traffic from Eindhoven to Antwerp and vice versa via Breda.

New bridge

Construction of the new bridge will start in April. The installation of the foundation of the central pillar is planned for the Easter holidays. During that period, traffic will travel in two lanes in each direction. The bus lane towards Antwerp will be closed.

During the last three weeks of April, the contractor will continue working on the center pillar. The traffic then passes over three lanes, both towards Antwerp and towards Hasselt and Eindhoven. The bus lane also remains closed. Road users should take traffic jams into account. The opening of the brand new bridge is currently scheduled for the end of 2024.
