Thousands of people took a stand against the right in Potsdam on Sunday. Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) and Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (Greens) also came to the rally on the Altmarkt.
Potsdam’s mayor Mike Schubert (SPD) called for the demonstration at a meeting with AfD politicians. Schubert spoke of 10,000 participants.
The participants in the demonstration held up posters with slogans such as “Potsdam is colorful” and “We stick together”.
“I stand here as one of thousands of Potsdam residents who stand up for democracy and against old and new fascism,” said Baerbock dpa.
Brandenburg’s Science Minister Manja Schüle (SPD) and faction leaders of the SPD, CDU, Greens and Left in the Brandenburg state parliament also took part in the rally. (dpa/red)
