Dr. Salem bin Mohammed Al-Malik, Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), received Mr. Ahmed Reda Al-Shami, President of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council of the Kingdom of Morocco, and his accompanying delegation of Council members, where the prospects for cooperation between the two sides were discussed, especially in the fields of Foresight studies and artificial intelligence.

During the meeting, which took place today, Wednesday (April 3, 2024) at the organization’s headquarters in Rabat, in the presence of Dr. Abdelilah Benarfa, Deputy Director-General of ISESCO, and a number of heads of sectors and directors of specialized departments and centers in the organization, Dr. Al-Malik reviewed ISESCO’s efforts, forward-looking initiatives, programs and projects, to support its countries. Members in developing the fields of education, science and culture, stressing that the organization adopts an approach of openness to partnership and cooperation with everyone to achieve its strategic goals.

He pointed out that the ISESCO Center for Strategic Foresight held a number of training courses on foresight and decision-making, for the benefit of groups of workers in the governmental and professional sectors and youth in member states. The organization also established the ISESCO Chair “Women in Science: Artificial Intelligence and the Future” at the Euro-Mediterranean University in Fez, and it will soon be established. Launching of the “ISESCO Chair for Artificial Intelligence Ethics” at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in the Sultanate of Oman.

For his part, Mr. Al-Shami appreciated the roles of ISESCO and its support by its member states in its areas of competence, stressing the keenness of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council to build fruitful cooperation with the organization, given its distinguished expertise, especially in the fields of strategic foresight and artificial intelligence.

Following the meeting, the Director-General of ISESCO accompanied the President of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council and his accompanying delegation, on a tour of the exhibition halls and the International Museum of the Prophet’s Biography and Islamic Civilization, which is currently hosted by the organization’s headquarters, in a strategic partnership between ISESCO, the Muslim World League, and the Muhammadiyah League of Scholars.
