Dr. Naglaa Hussein Al-Makabrabi writes: The war against Sudanese women

Sudanese Net:

*What caught my interest was the announcement by the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) through Mr. Al-Shafi’ Muhammad Ali, Executive Director of the Sudan Family Planning Association, that after nearly ten months of war in Sudan, the rates of violence against women rose in a very frightening way, especially sexual violence related to the conflict, and Kidnapping, forced disappearance, and forcing women to help militants by force

* He stated that the International Planned Parenthood Federation in London is very concerned about the frequent news about the existence of slavery markets, in which women are sold in many areas in Darfur by the rebel militia. He stated that the association is developing its plan with partners from the regional office to help women and girls who have been sexually exploited and to By assisting them and rehabilitating them psychologically and socially

* Salima Ishaq Al-Khalifa, Director General of the Unit for Combating Violence against Women, revealed that there are no statistics for all cases of kidnapping and sexual assault of women and girls, given that the statistics come from partners in civil society and various institutions specialized in family and community protection.

* It revealed the presence of women detained by Rapid Support who are being sexually exploited. Salima announced that the cases of rape that have been monitored so far are more than 143, representing 2% compared to the number of women exposed to kidnapping and sexual exploitation in war. Salimi Al-Khalifa said that cases of kidnapping and assault are considered systematic incidents with an interconnected scenario. Revealing that there are other cases that have not been recorded because they did not come through health centers and were not reported.

* On the other hand, the Sudanese Observatory for Human Rights revealed that the rebel Rapid Support militia raped more than (8) thousand Sudanese women and looted more than a million homes in Khartoum State…

* All of this reflects the trends of the war. It is a war against Sudanese women, who represent the foundation of society and family formation, and are dangerous indicators of the oppression of women in Sudan.

God bless you, my sister
