***Snow Flurries Cause Closures and Delays in El Paso***

El Paso, TX – As the possibility of snow flurries looms over the border area, several schools and organizations have announced closures or delays for Monday, January 8.

The El Paso Independent School District (EPISD) has declared a two-hour delay for all campuses and offices. Transportation and meal times will be adjusted accordingly, and morning activities, including athletics and fine arts, have been canceled. Morning access to Extended Day Learning Centers and morning Pre-K activities will not be available, but will resume in the afternoon. However, CCTE classes in the afternoon will proceed as normal, and Coronado High School will also operate on a two-hour delay.

William Beaumont Army Medical Center has canceled and rescheduled all appointments before 10 a.m. Patients are encouraged to voluntarily reschedule appointments through the online MHS GENESIS patient portal, and all scheduled surgeries in the morning will be contacted by their healthcare team to reschedule.

Gadsden Independent School District has also implemented a two-hour delay due to frigid temperatures and the likelihood of unsafe road conditions. The district is closely monitoring the situation with transportation partners and law enforcement to ensure the safety of students and staff.

El Paso Catholic Schools and Fabens Independent School District have also announced a two-hour delay for Monday, citing the expected lower temperatures and inclement weather.

Other school districts like Canutillo and Ysleta ISD are closely monitoring the weather situation and may announce closures or delays as the situation develops.

For updates on specific start times and closures, individuals are encouraged to check their school’s website or stay tuned for reminder messages from the school administration.

As the border area prepares for potential snow flurries, it is clear that safety is a top priority for all organizations and school districts. Stay tuned for further updates as the situation progresses.
