This Monday on the Platform program, the economist José Luis Magaña spoke about the 2024 projections, ensuring that according to ECLAC and the IMF, they predict that by 2024 the inflationary wave that has been experienced since September 2021 will be regularized this year, prices They will not rise significantly, but that does not mean that prices will fall.

“El Salvador has traditionally been one of the countries with the lowest inflation in the region, according to data from the BCR, it is until September 2021 that we experience an inflationary wave”made it known.

The economist indicated that the 2024 budget reflects that $19 million has been allocated for the agricultural package program, when in 2023 more than $50 million was used, and that this internal component will be reflected in the inflation indicators.

Magaña explained that, when we talk about economic growth in general, we talk about the production of goods and services, and that El Salvador is a country with low economic growth, also taking into account that by 2024, ECLAC and the IMF indicated that will have a growth of 1.9% and 2%.

“When we analyze the poverty trend with data from the BCR, extreme poverty had a significant decrease in the last two decades, but since 2020 there has been an increase in extreme poverty”said Magaña.
