Ex Ilva: related associations, ‘activities will stop from tomorrow’ – News

The associations Aigi (to which 80% of the former Ilva related companies belong), Casartigiani and Confapi Industria announce “the indefinite suspension of all work activities carried out by their members within the Taranto steel plant” starting from 6am tomorrow having had no reassurances on the protection of the credits claimed from Acciaierie d’Italia.

They specify that “out of a sense of responsibility towards workers, citizens and the territory”, “exclusively services relating to the safety of the plants” will be guaranteed.

The resumption of services – further explain Aigi, Casartigiani and Confapi Industria – can be taken into consideration exclusively following the securing of all credits accrued as of 31 December 2023 and the establishment of a permanent table on the future of the plant and the fate of the economy of the entire city”. The three associations note that “the public-private partner negotiation has reached a stalemate” and “the use of extraordinary administration is almost certain as an alternative tool to the lack of agreement between the partners”. At present, they report, “the credits that companies claim from AdI for invoices issued and not collected as of 31 December last amount to 120 million, credits which would be rendered waste paper by the extraordinary administration procedure as happened in 2015 when the induced lost 150 million following the same measure”.
