Expired sports and culture vouchers can be used for three months longer

by admin

Sports and culture vouchers that have expired will soon be able to be used for another three months. This is stated in a bill by Minister of Social Affairs Frank Vandenbroucke (Vooruit), which received the green light from the plenary Chamber on Thursday.

Some employees receive sports and culture vouchers from their employer. You can use these for entrance tickets to concerts and festivals, to museums, theaters, exhibitions, zoos, bookstores, sports clubs, gymnasiums, and so on. There is a maximum of 100 euros in such checks per year and per employee.

Vandenbroucke’s legal text ensures that use becomes somewhat easier. Today, for example, checks are valid for fifteen months, from July 1 of that year to September 30 of the following year. The validity period does not change, but from now on the sports and culture vouchers can be used immediately. And just as with meal and eco vouchers, expired vouchers can be reissued after three months.

Finally, the design regulates the electronic issuance of checks. There are already publishers who issue electronic sports and culture vouchers, but from now on this will have to be done with respect for the same procedures and conditions as currently apply to meal and eco vouchers. They have six months to do this.
