Chongqing Celebrates Lantern Festival with Joy at Meixin Wine Town Scenic Area
The Lantern Festival, celebrated on the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, is an important folk activity in China’s Spring Festival customs. Known as the “Festival of Lanterns”, it marks the end of the Spring Festival celebrations. On February 23, the Meixin Wine Town Scenic Area in Fuling, Chongqing, hosted a lively and festive Lantern Festival event, bringing together locals and tourists in a joyful celebration.
The event, which is part of the fourth New Year Cultural Festival at the scenic spot, featured a variety of traditional activities including dragon dancing, ox whipping, eating glutinous rice balls, and guessing lantern riddles. The “Fuling Night Lantern World” New Year Lantern Festival at the scenic spot will continue until March 3, showcasing 80,000 square meters of colorful lanterns that light up the town’s night sky.
Visitors also had the opportunity to admire the blooming red plum blossoms in the scenic area, adding to the festive atmosphere. In addition to the lantern displays, the scenic area planned a series of special outing activities and discounts for visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of the surroundings while participating in traditional folk activities.
