The largest protest action by farmers in SH to date took place in Hohenlockstedt on Saturday afternoon. Around 5,000 vehicles came together for a large rally at the Hungriger Wolf airfield.

Just on Friday, more than 3,000 vehicles drove to the state capital for a large rally. A day later, the crowd of protesting people in Hohenlockstedt was almost twice as large. The organizers from the “Land Creates Connection” association speak of “well over 6,000 vehicles” that came together at Hungriger Wolf airfield at midday – the police report around 5,000 vehicles.

Many farmers had set off for Hohenlockstedt in the Steinburg district early in the morning. For example, from Brügge and Dätgen (both in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district), from Heide and Albersdorf in the Dithmarschen district or from Bad Bramstedt (Segeberg district) and Handewitt (Schleswig-Flensburg district). Among them are not just farmers who want to vent their anger at the federal government. Freight forwarders, craftsmen, restaurateurs and fishermen are also now deeply frustrated with the traffic light savings plans. You need planning and reliability, demands district craftsman for Pinneberg and Steinburg, Norbert Lanz: “We have now lost trust in workers’ politics.”

The demonstration was organized by the “Land creates connection” association. The Schleswig-Holstein Construction Industry Association also called for participation.

Not all vehicles came onto the site

The rally at the airport was originally supposed to start at 11 a.m., but the crowd was too big. The organizers postponed the start. The protest finally began at 11:40 a.m. Meanwhile, the police reported that although there are already 5,000 vehicles on the site of the former army air base, numerous participants are still stuck on the roads around the airfield. Those who made it to the site watched the speeches of politicians in the drizzle, including Agriculture Minister Werner Schwarz (CDU) and representatives of various associations. The rally ended around 3 p.m. The return traffic caused significant traffic delays and long traffic jams on the B77.

Another column moved through Lübeck

There was also a demonstration by farmers in Lübeck on Saturday. In the afternoon the column completed its journey through Lübeck and left the Hanseatic city heading south on the B207. According to the police, there were at times almost 700 vehicles in the convoy – it was around ten kilometers long.
