This year marks the 50th anniversary of the restoration of the People’s Republic of China’s legitimate seat in the United Nations. This is an important historic event that should be remembered forever by the Chinese people.
China is the first country to sign the UN Charter. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, it was kept out of the door of the United Nations for 22 years. However, with the unremitting efforts of the Chinese government and people, and with the strong support of the righteous country and people, 50 years ago, on October 25, 1971, the 26th United Nations General Assembly passed Resolution 2758 by an overwhelming majority and decided to restore All rights of the People’s Republic of China in the United Nations recognize that the government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legal representative of China in the United Nations. This historical event has truly made the United Nations the most universal, representative and authoritative international organization, and the force for world peace and development has grown unprecedentedly. The Chinese government and people will never forget that Romania has played a historic and important role for China to restore its legal seat in the United Nations.
For half a century, China has actively played its role as a permanent member of the Security Council. We lead by example to maintain international order, support multilateralism, join almost all universal intergovernmental international organizations, and have signed more than 600 international conventions. We are responsible for safeguarding world peace and constructively participating in solving international hotspot issues. We have become the second largest contributor of UN peacekeeping operations and the largest troop contributor among the permanent members of the Security Council. We wholeheartedly promote common development, achieve the poverty reduction goal of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development 10 years ahead of schedule, and contribute more than 70% to global poverty reduction; we have implemented thousands of packaged projects and material assistance projects for more than 160 developing countries , Tens of thousands of technical cooperation and human resource development projects and more than 400,000 personnel training. We are determined to be enterprising to respond to global challenges, earnestly implement the “United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change” and the “Paris Agreement”, put forward new measures for carbon peaking, carbon neutrality and nationally determined contributions; actively carry out anti-epidemic international cooperation, accumulatively more than 150 The country and 13 international organizations have provided emergency anti-epidemic material assistance, have provided about 1.6 billion doses of vaccine to more than 90 countries and international organizations, and will strive to provide 2 billion doses of vaccine throughout the year.
