The first Summit of Leaders of Chocó 2024 was held, a joint work space where the Governor, Nubia Carolina Córdoba Curi, together with the mayors, outlined the joint construction of the route towards departmental progress.
This space has the participation of the 31 leaders or their delegates and its fundamental objective is to know the projections and subregional challenges 2024-2027. In addition, identify the administrative capacities of the municipality, with a single objective: to improve the quality of life of all Chocoanos.
Within this process, it is worth congratulating all the mayors of the department of Chocó for accepting the call of our governor, highlighting the capacity for convening and management that she has demonstrated so far, without ignoring the peace of mind that it gives us Chocóans to know that we have a person capable of managing at a national and international level the development of a people that needs it so much.
After three days of regional and national meeting, some clear commitments were made to move forward with the improvement of the quality of life of the people who live in the department of Chocó, which were, among others:
A commitment from the Ministry of Education to guarantee access to basic education for indigenous minors in the department. Also, together with the Education portfolio, Vice President Márquez highlighted progress in strategies that facilitate the entry of young people to higher education.
Work was defined with the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD) to initially visit the population of Pogue; This was aimed at the resettlement of 128 families and with the UNGRD, ethnic leaders and municipal administrations were summoned to help in a plan for assistance, prevention and mitigation of impact in these areas.
They are very interesting points for taking actions that would make visible Colombia that contributes so much to the large industries of our country. What I don’t understand is why something as fundamental as sport that gives us joy, tears and disappointments was not discussed in a meeting as important as the summit of mayors and governors of the department. I ask myself a question: could it be that sport is not important for the social development of the department of Chocó?
The truth leaves me disappointed that an activity so fundamental that a territory like ours is outside the radar of our leaders, since nothing was heard about how they are going to develop in their territories the programs that are part of leisure, sport, physical activity, recreation and good use of free time. I remain concerned about the lackadaisical way in which we manage sports administratively in our department.
Let us hope that the municipal sports coordinators put the sports development of their municipalities at a fundamental level, with the accompaniment of adequate public policies for the good management of sports at the departmental level, thus dreaming of the possibility of showing Colombia and the world what Our athletes are made.
