Bill Belichick will not coach the Atlanta Falcons in the NFL

Bill Belichick, the legendary coach of the New England Patriots, left his beloved team two weeks ago, at age 71 and after 24 seasons there. In a quarter of a century, he had guided the New England franchise to six Super Bowl victories (in 2002, 2004, 2005, 2015, 2017 and 2019).

Apparently Belichick was not thinking of ending his career. His name was circulating to take charge of the Atlanta Falcons, who have not had a positive season or participation in the play-offs for seven years.

Morris returns to Atlanta

Bill Belichick was one of the 14 candidates auditioned by the Georgia team (the one to which he and the Patriots had inflicted a crushing setback in the Super Bowl in 2017. Trailing 3-28, they finally won 34-28). But, according to ESPN, Atlanta chose Raheem Morris (47) on Thursday, who had been the defensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Rams for three seasons. He won the Super Bowl with them two years ago.

Morris has previously coached in the NFL. He even coached the Falcons during the season in 2020, after leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for three years. Apparently Atlanta is the only team to approach Bill Belichick for a coaching position.
