From footballers to restaurateurs. After Cristante, Burrai: the former director of Pordenone will manage a club

PORDENONE. From football to business, in this case in the catering sector. Salvatore Burrai remains on the pitch, but this time he changes the table.

Together with his partner from Pordenone, Marco Comparin, the former director of the lizards, now in force at Perugia but capable of winning promotion to Serie B with the Neroverdi shirt, is in negotiations to take over the management of a historic club in the city center. .

Apparently the deal is in an advanced state and, if everything goes the right way, it will close shortly, with its inauguration scheduled for the summer.

Burrai, 33, of Sardinian origin, will continue to play – his contract with the Umbrians expires in 2023 – but in the meantime he begins to think about the next phase of his sports career, also laying the foundations for a permanent return on the banks of the Noncello .

That the Orosei midfielder was fine in Pordenone was already testified by his desire to remain among the lizards last summer, when the club instead communicated to him that it wanted to pursue other technical choices.

But not only that: in the territory he has made many friendships, which still last, such as to lead him to buy a house in the city and, in fact, to “launch” into an entrepreneurial adventure, also driven by sharing this adventure with his partner.

The news intrigues not only the fans of Pordenone, still linked to Burrai given the four, splendid, years played in neroverde (from 2016 to 2020). It also stimulates those who frequent the center and who, once the restrictions linked to the pandemic have been put behind them, will want to frequent its premises and thus spend time in a carefree way.

The idea of Burrai and Comparin is to create something new, which goes beyond classic catering: it will focus on the proposal to be offered at the aperitif time but also after dinner, ensuring that people populate the city and that can give impetus to the local economy, heavily damaged due to the problems that have arisen due to the coronavirus. For the former neroverde it will certainly be a stimulating project, which brings back the combination of football players-restaurateurs.

Some time ago also Filippo Cristante, former player of Piacenza and Messina, formerly in the Pordenone technical staff and coach, had joined his brother Marco as a partner at the “Le Casette” restaurant in the historic center.

The activity will lead Burrai to have an ever stronger bond with the Pordenone area, where he lived for four years, making him one of the protagonists of some of the most important seasons played by Mauro Lovisa’s club. In all, the player made 149 appearances with the lizards, scoring 25 goals and serving 47 assists.

Also in his opinion, those on the banks of the Noncello were the best of his career. –
