MURRIETA, Riverside County – A Hispanic couple, along with four others, tragically lost their lives in a plane crash near the French Valley Airport in Murrieta. Monique Bettencourt, moved by the heartbreaking incident, has opened a GoFundMe page to help support the surviving children of the Vargas family.
The GoFundMe campaign, initiated by Bettencourt, aims to raise funds for the benefit of Abigail’s sister, Alejandra Treviño, who has taken the responsibility of securing full custody of the children. The goal set for the campaign is to accumulate $142,000, with just over that amount left to complete the target as of late Tuesday night.
According to the petition filed by Treviño, she plans to step in as the children’s maternal aunt, ensuring they receive the same love and care as if they were her own. The minors impacted by this tragic incident are Caleb (14), Alexandria (11), Manny (8), Alberto (3), and Avi (1).
The deceased couple, identified as the Vargas, were returning from a business trip to Las Vegas when their Cessna C550 commercial plane crashed near the runway at around 4:15 in the morning. The crash claimed the lives of four other passengers as well, including Alma and Ibrahem Razick, who were also residents of Temecula. The remaining victims were Lindsey Gleiche (31) from Huntington Beach and Riese Lenders (25) from Rancho Palos Verdes.
Sheriff Chad Bianco has taken charge of identifying the victims of the accident, while local and federal agencies investigate the causes behind the tragedy. The Board of Transportation and Homeland Security anticipate releasing a preliminary report within the next two weeks.
In the wake of this devastating incident, our thoughts and prayers go out to the Vargas family and the other victims involved in the accident. The establishment of the GoFundMe campaign is a sign of solidarity and compassion within the community, as they rally together to support the surviving children in their time of need.
