Guangxi Issued Double Cold Wave and Freezing Warning

The Guangxi Meteorological Observatory has issued a double cold wave and freezing warning as the main body of strong cold air continues to move southward. The entire region is expected to experience a significant drop in temperature, rainfall, strong winds, and strong convection.

The lowest temperature in the area is predicted to drop to minus 8℃ in the coming days.

From February 22 to 23, the main body of strong cold air is expected to affect Guangxi from north to south. The temperature in the region is expected to drop significantly, with cold and rainy weather predicted to last for 5-8 days in northern and central Guangxi and 3-4 days in southern Guangxi. The daily average temperature is estimated to be ≤12℃ during this period.

The Guangxi Meteorological Observatory has issued yellow warnings for cold wave and freezing, signaling the potential for extreme weather conditions.

The front of the strong cold air from the north has already entered the northern part of Guilin, causing a rapid drop in temperature and heavy rainfall. Northerly winds and heavy rain are also expected in the affected areas.

As the strong cold air continues to move southward, the entire region is expected to experience a “cliff-like” drop in temperature. The daily average temperature in various places will drop by 14°C to 18°C, with local temperatures above 20°C.

The Meteorological Department has warned of northerly winds of magnitude 5-6 and gusts of magnitude 7-8 throughout the region. Additionally, heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, hail, and sleet are predicted in certain areas.

Residents are advised to prepare for the long-lasting and extreme cold weather. Precautions should be taken to prevent the impact of rain, snow, ice, and strong winds on transportation and safety. Additionally, preparations for the reserve, dispatch, and supply of energy such as coal, electricity, oil, and gas are recommended.

As the strong cold wave is expected to persist, residents are urged to take necessary precautions to ensure their well-being and safety during the extreme weather conditions.
