Guillermo Plazas Alcid Stadium received a visit from the Ministry of Sports

The recent visit of the Ministry of Sports to the Guillermo Plazas Alcid Stadium in Neiva, within the framework of the development of a Unified Command Post (PMU) and the supervision of improvements, has revealed a series of questions about the quality and effectiveness of the actions undertaken so far.

The delegation of the Ministry of Sports, led by Jorge Vargas, highlighted the coordination between the municipal secretariat and the club to ensure the success of sporting events. Progress was noted, such as improvements in sanitary facilities, food sales points, maintenance of lighting towers, installation of new seating and signage, responding to previous recommendations from the Ministry.

Although progress has been highlighted in aspects such as the presentation of the Safety Plan by the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, as well as some improvements in sanitary facilities, food sales points and signage, the reality is that these efforts seem insufficient to address the structural and safety needs of the stadium.

The supervision revealed that the improvements made are mostly superficial and cosmetic, while critical aspects such as the condition of the lighting towers and the adequacy of access and exit areas remain worrying. Furthermore, the lack of a comprehensive and concrete plan to address these deficiencies raises serious questions about the ability of authorities to ensure the safety and comfort of attendees during sporting events.
