At about 10:30 on June 4, the D2809 passenger train from Guiyang North to Guangzhou South was traveling at the entrance of the Yuezhai Tunnel in front of the Rongjiang Station of the Guiguang Line, when it crashed into a debris flow that suddenly slipped and intruded into the line. The No. 7 and No. 8 trains were off-line, resulting in the unfortunate death of a driver and injuries to a conductor and seven passengers.
After receiving the accident report, Chen Yiqin, Secretary of the Guizhou Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People’s Congress, and Li Bingjun, Deputy Secretary of the Guizhou Provincial Party Committee and Governor, immediately made arrangements and assigned Guo Ruimin, Deputy Governor of Guizhou Province and Director of the Provincial Public Security Department, to lead the police, Emergency, transportation, natural resources, health and other departments rushed to the scene as soon as possible, and organized relevant provincial, state and county forces to fully cooperate in emergency rescue, wounded treatment, and passenger comfort and transfer.

All other passengers on the train were safely transferred at 14:30 on the 4th.
