Xiamen Residents Flock to Harbin for Winter Tours

As the winter vacation approaches, residents of Xiamen are preparing for trips to the snow-covered city of Harbin. With the tourism industry in Harbin booming, Xiamen tour groups are leaving almost every day during the holidays, catering to the increasing demand for winter getaways.

According to reports from Xiamen travel agencies, the popularity of Harbin as a winter destination has surged in recent months. Harbin tour groups have been departing from Xiamen almost daily, with the majority of participants being young people. In response to the growing interest, more than ten groups have launched “parent-child” winter vacation packages in less than two months.

The tour groups offer various itineraries, including visits to popular attractions such as Harbin Central Street, Dajin Ancient City, Yabuli Skiing, and the Ice and Snow World. In addition to exploring the snow-covered landscapes, parents are also seeking trips to locations such as Changbai Mountain, Gou Xiong Ling, and Xuexiang for an in-depth experience of the Northeastern culture.

However, the increasing popularity of Harbin as a tourist destination has led to rising costs, with one-way air tickets from Xiamen exceeding 1,800 yuan before the Spring Festival. As a result, some citizens have suggested that parent-child tours adopt unified “group uniforms” to optimize the group service experience.

Despite the rising costs, Xiamen residents remain eager to experience the unique ice and snow culture of Harbin. Ms. Xue, a staff member of China International Travel Service, shared that Harbin’s warm hospitality and a plethora of activities, such as symphony concerts and cultural events, have captivated the interest of Xiamen tourists.

Chen Lishuang, president of the Municipal Tourism Association, has expressed a warm welcome to tourists from Harbin, encouraging them to experience the distinct beauty of Xiamen. With the winter tourism trend on the rise, both cities are poised to benefit from the cultural exchange and growth in tourism.
