The woman was able to get out of bed as early as a few hours after surgery to be discharged four days later
TREVISO. A patient with colon cancer and uterus prolapse was operated on for the first time at the “Ca ‘Foncello” hospital in Treviso, laparoscopically and therefore without abdominal incisions. Natural vaginal access was used to reach the organs to be treated and, after the tumor was removed and the uterus removed, the woman was able to get out of bed a few hours after surgery to be discharged four days later.
By not resorting to incisions, the health professionals report, there are not only aesthetic advantages, but also a significant reduction in the risk of wound infections or possible wall hernias.
Patients can thus resume all physical, work and sexual activities early.
