Feijóo argued that Sánchez’s reign was a succession of failures. Sánchez emphasized the relatively good economic situation despite the corona pandemic and war in Ukraine. The debate between the two politicians got hottest when it came to the smaller parties. Both Sánchez’s socialist PSOE and Feijóo’s conservative PP could depend on their support. Sánchez accused his opponent of helping the right-wing populist Vox party to participate in government. Polls currently put the conservative PP ahead, but they could miss an absolute majority. Mathematically, only with the Vox party would it be enough for a government majority.
