IVREA . Horses and carriages are the hallmark of the feast of San Savino, essential presences and a reference to the equestrian tradition of Ivrea handed down to the present day. And it is precisely the horses that concerns the novelty of 2021 or the election of the Best on the web, an initiative to project tradition on social media and involve the people of the web in a fun and direct way.
Come to make the hour? «From 2 pm to 5 pm on Sunday 11th – explains Davide Mindo, commentator and presenter of the event – on the official facebook page, Ivrea – San Savino in Città, the album with all the photographs of the horses participating in the show will be published. Voting will close at 5 pm and whoever has obtained the highest number of “Likes” will be proclaimed the winner of the first Best on the web in the history of the event ».
No news, however, as regards the development of Sunday: from 8 to 18, agricultural fair and market in Piazza Freguglia, and equine exhibition, at the Rondolino, with the participation of 54 specimens (the number is contingent for the rules of safety), from 9 to 12, for the presentation of single horses and their morphological evaluation, and from 15 to 17, for the presentation of the horses in pairs. The technical commentator will be entrusted to the couple who had held the same role in 2019: the international judge Aiat, Massimo Nicolotti, of the Italian attacks group, flanked by the Ivorian presenter and actor Davide Mindo. At 5.30 pm, the jury will award the winners in the various categories and proclaim the Best in show or the best specimen at the fair.
Closed number also for the carriages that, on the evening of Saturday 10, will make up the long-awaited parade: there will be 41. Forty-one of originals and perfect replicas in every detail of the period, followed their beautiful horses, elegantly decorated and masterfully led, and each carrying their own elegant crew. Nicolotti and Mindo will also provide the technical commentary of the parade of carriages, not sparing the continuous and abundant illustration of carriages, horses and harnesses, giving everyone and not only the insiders a roundup of exciting information.
You will see, coming from the Canavese, but also from outside the region, phaetons, mylord, lands, victories, breaks and vis-à-vis pulled from splendid specimens, of morello, gelder and golden saurian, to name a few, divided into single attacks, pairs, four-sided or even greater. The carriages, many of which are shining with centuries-old woods and rigorously authentic accessories, such as vintage headlights or other details that each time contribute to making a difference, will, as always, arouse interest and sincere enthusiasm in people. “For obvious reasons – comments Elvio Gambone who, with his association Eporedia 2004, organizes the event – it is not possible to propose the evening equestrian shows and even less the fireworks display, however this 2021 edition marks an important moment in the revival of traditions, regardless of statistics and record numbers, putting in the foreground the customs of Ivory Coast and the desire to resume what we had to do without for months: find yourself in the presence and feel in all respects part of a territory, a real community “.
Gambone certainly wanted to do more, accustomed, as he demonstrated up to his long career as an organizer, to always throwing himself into new challenges and never stopping in the face of obstacles and adversities. In fact, no one, if not him, had the courage to take on this challenge of organizing the 2021 edition, aimed at not depriving the city of one of its oldest traditions, certainly the most heartfelt after Carnival. The numbers may also be reduced, but the enthusiasm with which the Ivrea people will welcome horses and carriages will certainly be inversely proportional. FRANCO FARNÈ
