The heat alert continues to rise in Italy: in fact, after 2 on Wednesday and 4 on Thursday, there are 7 cities with a red dot on Friday, those where high temperatures are a risk for the entire population, not only therefore for the weaker groups. While the forecasts speak of two weeks, the next, a record for the levels reached by the mercury column, the heat wave bulletin of the Ministry of Health photographs a situation in constant worsening in urban centers (27 those taken into consideration).
Where the heat hits the most
The highest alert on Wednesday concerned Bologna and Bolzano, in addition to Florence and Perugia today. On Friday the maximum level of hot risk is expected in Bologna, Bolzano, Campobasso, Florence, Perugia, breaking latest news and Rieti. “Persistent” red sticker (all three days taken into consideration), therefore, in Bologna, which together with Piacenza is, according to the monitoring of ARPAE (the regional agency for the environment), the city of Emilia Romagna where the heat will feel more.
Two more “extreme” weeks
In addition to the red stickers, the orange ones are also increasing (health risk for the most fragile): yesterday there were 6 (Campobasso, Florence, Perugia, breaking latest news, Rieti and Rome), today and tomorrow 9 (among others Milan and Palermo are added, while Rome returns to yellow, which indicates a hot pre-alert condition). The latest projections – explains Lorenzo Tedici, meteorologist of ILMeteo.it – indicate that the anticyclone Caronte wants to “set fire to” the boot until 4-6 July, with the next week even hotter than the one that has just begun. “So let’s get ready – warns the meteorologist – for two weeks of exceptional heat without respite”.
The temperature of the seas
Some data provided by iLMeteo.it represent the intensity of the heat in Italy: 10 degrees on the summit of Mont Blanc last June 18, 4 more than the previous record of 2019; 44 degrees coming in the next few days in Italy, in the shade; the temperature of the Italian seas is already 25 degrees in the South as in the middle of July, 5/6 degrees above the average. Meanwhile, relief from the rain in some areas of the North: in the Belluno area on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday there was a strong storm of hail, rain and wind, which required the intervention of the Fire Brigade. Involved, in addition to the municipality of Belluno, in the Cavarzano area, those of Ponte nelle Alpi and Alpago. First drops of rain fell today in Milan.
