Hunan Railway sees highest return passenger flow, Guangzhou Railway Group operates 375 additional night high-speed trains
China News Service, Changsha, February 17 (Zeng Xiaoxian, You Zhiyu) – On February 17, the Hunan Railway experienced its highest peak of return passenger flow. The Guangzhou Railway Group estimated that there would be 1.299 million passengers arriving and departing on that day, with 754,000 dispatched, marking a 13.1% year-on-year increase, and 545,000 arriving passengers, an increase of 16.1% from the previous year. Of this, 287,000 passengers arrived and departed from Changsha South Station, and 155,000 passengers arrived and departed from Changsha Station.
To accommodate the increasing passenger flow, the Guangzhou Railway Group operated a total of 3,507 trains on the 17th, with 375 additional night high-speed trains. These additional trains were mainly running from Changsha, Huaihua, Shaoyang, Shantou, Puning, Zhanjiang, and other places to Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
In order to ensure the comfort and safety of passengers traveling at night, extra personnel have been assigned to handle night duties at each station. These personnel are stationed in key locations such as entrances, waiting halls, and platforms to provide information and assistance services. Additionally, the Guangzhou Railway Group has coordinated with local governments to extend the service hours of surrounding public transportation such as subways, buses, and taxis to provide a seamless travel experience for passengers during the return peak period.
In an effort to serve the passenger flow of migrant workers, the Hunan Railway Department of Guangzhou Railway Group has opened a green channel for special train applications, ticket purchases, and station services. Furthermore, various stations have implemented measures to optimize passenger transportation organization, provide information consultation services, and improve the overall travel experience for passengers.
In terms of remaining ticket information on February 17, there are still tickets available for short-distance directions within the province at Changsha South Railway Station, and for directions to various destinations at Changsha Station.
Moreover, to improve the travel experience of passengers, additional amenities such as luggage lockers, free charging stations, and bathrooms equipped with water heating facilities have been added at Changsha South Railway Station and Changsha Railway Station.
