Hundreds of reports after traffic controls in the Linz-Land district

The police were targeting speeders and tuners on Friday in the Linz-Land district: officers from the state traffic department and experts from the state of Upper Austria jointly conducted a traffic focus. Numerous cars were checked at the airport road roundabout near Pasching. There was a hail of reports: 79 of them for technical defects, four for exhaust systems, five for noise. In nine cases the license plates had to be removed, and 25 applications for special inspection were submitted.

Twice as fast as allowed

The radar gun was also used: almost 7,000 measurements were taken within a few hours, 328 drivers were reported because they were driving too fast – some even much too fast. The police reported that a driver was speeding past at 140 km/h instead of the permitted 70 km/h, and another was traveling at 149 km/h in the 80 zone. The officers also issued 50 organ mandates for various offenses, the state police headquarters announced on Saturday morning.

The police also caught two speeders in Wels on Friday: a young man was caught driving at 108 km/h instead of the permitted 70 km/h, and a probationary license holder was caught at 99 instead of the permitted 60 km/h.
