Impact of US oil license to Venezuela was limited – El Nacional

by admin

The recent decision by the United States to extend a temporary license permitting American companies to operate in Venezuela’s oil sector has had limited impact on the struggling South American nation, according to reports from various news outlets.

El Nacional reported that the growth prospects of Venezuela’s economy remain cool, despite the temporary reprieve from sanctions. The country continues to face severe economic challenges, including hyperinflation and widespread shortages of basic goods.

Runrunes highlighted the rejection of the reimposition of sanctions by the National Assembly of Venezuela, which is controlled by opposition parties. The move was seen as a symbolic gesture of defiance against the US government’s attempts to isolate the Maduro regime.

Noticia al Dia focused on the response of Zulia’s working force, the region most heavily impacted by sanctions due to its reliance on the oil industry. Workers in the area expressed their opposition to the sanctions, which they believe only serve to further destabilize the already struggling economy.

Meanwhile, Orinoco Mail reported that the Venezuelan Parliament issued a statement “repudiating” the reimposition of US sanctions. The statement called the sanctions an “attack on Venezuela’s sovereignty” and urged the international community to condemn the punitive measures.

Despite these strong statements of opposition, it remains to be seen how much the US sanctions will impact Venezuela’s already fragile economy. The temporary license extension provides some relief for American companies operating in the country, but the long-term effects of continued sanctions and political turmoil are yet to be fully realized.
