LIGNANO. The Municipality of Lignano Sabbiadoro and the Friulian Aeroclub, in agreement with the Prefecture of Udine, have decided that the “W Lignano 2021” event scheduled for next 25 August will be canceled.
“This is necessary – reads a note – due to a resurgence of the pandemic which requires a more prudent attitude on the organization of highly attended events, which could favor uncontrolled forms of gathering.
The organizational machine has been active for months to create an important and complex event and the organizers wish to thank the organizations that in recent weeks have nevertheless worked to ensure their availability so that the Airshow could be confirmed.
We refer in particular to the Prefecture and the Police Headquarters, the police, the Aeroclub Italia, the ENAC and ENAV, the firefighters and the employees of the Municipality of Lignano ”.
“A special thanks – continues the note – should be addressed to the Air Force and the national aerobatic team that we are waiting for in Lignano in 2022, trusting in better times that will only come through the collaboration of all.
Mayor Luca Fanotto adds: “We are really sorry to have had to cancel this important event, much awaited in our city on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Frecce tricolori, which have always marked an inseparable link with Lignano.
In fact, I simply want to remember that the first show of the acrobatic team on a beach was held in Lignano Sabbiadoro, that the Frecce have always used our beach in the winter months for their overflight tests and that on the occasion of the 55th anniversary presented the new acrobatic figure “Scintilla tricolore” in Lignano.
I sincerely thank the Friulian Aeroclub and all the authorities involved for the commitment and professionalism shown to the last.
For the same reasons we will not be able to guarantee even the traditional fireworks display of Ferragosto ”.
