A man has been arrested for attempted murder after allegedly attacking his partner with a knife in the hospital where she had just given birth, according to sources from the National Police.
As has emerged from the investigation, the woman would have asked the aggressor to end the romantic relationship and that would have caused a strong argument between the couple in the middle of the hospital. Hours later, during the night, the man entered the hospital facilities armed with two bladed weapons: a hammer and a knife. After surprising the victim in the room, he allegedly inflicted dozens of hammer blows on her head and several cuts all over her body.
According to Police Inspector Serafín Giraldo, the aggressor and victim are originally from Mali and are 37 and 27 years old, respectively. According to investigators, the detainee would have planned the crime before committing it. In the middle of the attack, the victim managed to grab the hammer and was able to defend himself from his attacker. The aggressor was arrested by the authorities and the woman has been admitted to the ICU and is in critical condition due to the severity of her injuries.

The events occurred around 4 a.m. this Wednesday in a room at the Vinalopó Hospital in Elche (Alicante) where the woman was recovering after giving birth while the baby was still in neonates.
According to the same sources, the health personnel who went to the room found the 37-year-old man with a knife, with which he had allegedly caused cuts on the woman’s arms, hands, fingers and neck, for which She had to be admitted to the ICU.
In turn, the 28-year-old woman allegedly attacked the man with a hammer, apparently hitting him nine or ten times with hammers on the head, and requiring stitches.
