Four people died and another injured in a clash between the ADF and the coalition of the Congolese (FARDC) and Ugandan (UPDF) armies, Tuesday January 9, in Makwangi in the Mambasa territory, sources on site indicate.

These same sources specify that the FARDC were on combat patrol deep in the forest. They were alerted by the population of the presence of these rebels in the fields of certain farmers.

According to the administrator of this territory, these ADF were looking for a corridor to access national road number 4 in order to stock up on various products.

A group of farmers, who encountered ADF rebels in the fields, immediately alerted the joint FARDC-UPDF forces, informs Marie-Noelle Anotane, territorial coordinator of civil society/vice forces.

In these clashes, three rebels were killed and a FARDC soldier died from his injuries after being taken to a medical facility, indicates the same source.

The administrator of the Mambasa territory adds that another FARDC soldier is injured but his life is out of danger.

According to civil society, these ADF rebels have been circulating in the area for almost a few weeks. They are fleeing tracking operations carried out by the FARDC and the Ugandan army, the UPDF.
