Deportivo Pereira is one of the usual protagonists in the traditional Baby Fútbol tournament, belonging to the Festival of Festivals that is held in Medellín with the organization of the Los Paisitas Sports Corporation. There the Matecañitas are adding their first experiences at the national level in their sporting processes and today they will go out in search of qualification to the direct elimination rounds when they face Juan Pablo II’s team from the capital of Antioquia.

Three of points out of six possible

Daniel Marín, technical director of the children’s team, spoke about the two days they have had. “The first date against a team that is from Chocó, practically a selection that they make and we lost 0-1 in a fairly close match where we had many options and we did not make them concrete and they did so in the only arrival they had. Later we played the second day against a team from Bello that had just won on the first day. We started losing and we were down on the scoreboard the entire game but in the last minutes we managed to turn it around and win 2-1.”

Today for the classification

“The third game, which is the decisive one and the one that will give us the classification because we depend on ourselves, will be today on the La Marte 2 court, against a team from here in Medellín called Juan Pablo II. If we win we would already be in the direct elimination round.”

The experience with the group

Regarding his experience with the Matecañitas group of children, Professor Daniel Marín adds: “it has been very enriching, both for the boys because this is like their World Cup, getting here is already a reward, it is something very complicated because you have to go through different phases, not only in Risaralda but you also have to be the first in the central area of the country between Tolima, Caldas, Quindío Chocó and Risaralda. On a personal level, every game, every day with the boys and with football you learn and that is what helps you grow day by day, take advantage of the good, also enjoy the bad and learn.”

Given:

Deportivo Pereira also qualified for the Festival of Festivals with its indoor soccer team, which is directed by Sebastián Bedoya and will debut this Friday at 9 in the morning. It will also play all its games on Saturday and Sunday at the Tulio Ospina Coliseum in Bello.
