IVREA

The surge in the demand for rapid tampons due to the introduction of the mandatory Green pass to access workplaces and many other social events is imposing intense rhythms and extended hours also on the Ivrea’s pharmacies.

“We are exhausted,” says the pharmacist Laura Fasano of the Stragiotti pharmacy. «This new service is added to the routine work and we perform, by reservation only, an average of eighteen tampons a day. In the beginning, the flow was concentrated on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, key days for obtaining coverage, of forty-eight hours to forty-eight hours, for the entire week. Now the requests have increased and the bookings have spread over all days ». The Stragiotti pharmacy has a separate access to the area dedicated to tampons, which is detached from the sales area. «We make sure that the times are perfectly respected avoiding waiting – continues Fasano – and we issue passes both for work needs and for access to sports competitions or returns to school after periods of absence. Obviously we do our best to make everyone understand the importance of getting vaccinated ». The Rocchietta pharmacy has also set up a totally autonomous room where it administers the tests throughout the working day. “On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays we manage to satisfy even 50 requests and we have reservations until December,” says pharmacist Gabriella Rocchietta. “The obligatory nature of reservations avoids gatherings and allows people to schedule the receipt of the report, which we deliver within 15 minutes, exactly at the desired deadline,” he explains. And he concludes: “All our staff in this service attended the theoretical and practical course of the ASL / To4 in the Rivarolo hot spot which enabled them to perform the swab, to report the result and to enter it in the system that generates the Green pass ».

At the Linda Pharmacy, tampons are made outside opening hours. “An option foreseen in an agreement with the government allows them to be carried out even inside the pharmacy as long as they are outside the opening hours”, explains the pharmacist Ernesto Ravetto. “We are operational half an hour before opening, during the lunch break and for about an hour and a half after closing in the evening,” continues Ravetto. «We satisfy between 15 and 20 requests per day which often concern people waiting to be vaccinated or who have only received the first dose, as well as those who are opposed to immunization. It remains a priority for us to make people understand how the vaccine is the way towards a substantial return to normality ”, he stresses.

“The ASL has allowed us to place a Red Cross gazebo in its courtyard where we test many people without losing sight of the primary function of monitoring the progress of the pandemic,” says the pharmacist Emilio Fiore, owner of the Dora pharmacy. «Although the epidemic is stationary, the activity related to tampons is constantly evolving and reservations help considerablyyou to organize the work – he observes -. Most of the swabs we carry out are for work reasons and we continue to push vaccinations, which are also available in our office ». Fiore concludes by dwelling on this critical issue: «I got vaccinated in unsuspecting times because I experienced Covid in the trenches and I saw situations that made me think. This is a war and it is right and right to work hard to defeat the enemy ». Paolo Airoldi
