The visit of president Alberto Cirio, with an initiative to the Giacosa theater, was in effect a political catwalk and not an institutional occasion, as admitted by the mayor Stefano Sertoli during the city council on Wednesday, 30 June.
The answer came to the interpellation of the council group of the Democratic Party, first signed by Andrea Benedino, after the question of the director Fabrizio Dulla in the assembly of last May 5. Then he had asked, in fact, if the Northern League player Andrea Cane, regional councilor, identified by the mayor as the organizer of the initiative, had paid the rent of the theater or not. Sertoli essentially admitted «that it was a mistake in that declaration, because we had not yet understood how to interpret that visit, which was halfway between the political and the institutional. In any case, an invoice was issued in the name of the Forza Italia secretary Vincenzo Ceratti ». Headed, therefore, to the party of President Cirio. Benedino stressed that «the event had been going on for weeks, perhaps our questioning has accelerated the decision. It is not so difficult to distinguish between institutional and political visits, I remember hours of discussions on the subject. It is welcome that someone has assumed responsibility for paying ». However, the mayor wanted to clarify that those were hectic days since there was also “the Covid issue, until the last we didn’t know where we would meet. But when you make a mistake you have to admit it ».
In fact, that April 22nd, President Alberto Cirio’s day in Canavese was very full. One of the stops was the joint visit with Lars Carlstrom, CEO of Italvolt, to the Scarmagno site, which actually stopped a short distance from the entrance.
At the Giacosa theater, among other works in the area, Italvolt was talked about. «I strongly wanted this meeting – Cirio said on stage – to make the Canavese territory a catwalk and highlight its many excellences. The projects are fundamental for the restart: Italvolt in Scarmagno, the new hospital and making Ivrea a university center are the relaunch objectives for the next few years ».
